The Canadian
Literature Library Initiative

Return to CCLA

The CCLA is proud
to contribute Canadian published books
by Canadian authors to libraries in Cuba.

We need your contribution.
See below for details.

Thank you for the books.

We have received books from -- click here to see.
We will list your name and/or name of publisher.

In cooperation with the Canadian Embassy in Cuba the Canada Cuba Literary Alliance is
collecting Canadian published books by Canadian authors for the "Canadian Literature Library
Initiative".  Poetry, prose, photography and art books are welcome. We are building five collections
of Canadian literature that will be donated as permanent collections to five different UNEAC (Union
of Writers and Artists of Cuba) offices across Cuba.  These collections will be available to Cubans
as a window to past and present Canadian literature.  This initiative will serve as a journey
beyond borders,  a timeless bridge of literary camaraderie between Canada and Cuba.

Donations must be in new or virtually new condition.  Donations are welcome from the public as well as
from authors and publishers. The ideal donation would be five copies of the same book but we do
not have any number restrictions.  Single or multiple copies of the same title are welcome.

We hope you will pass the word to library and literary groups, authors, publishers, women auxiliary
groups and interested individuals. We anticipate that the first presentation of these books will be
made in Havana, Cuba in late 2006.

This is an ongoing initiative.  As new books are published please send them at anytime as we will
continue to build the collections. Books will be collected and shipped to Cuba via the Canadian
Embassy in Havana, Cuba.
